New App Store = Cheaper Apps, Bye Bye CD's

Apple has just launched its Mac Apps Store, with over 1,000 apps available so far.  The Unofficial Apple Welog notes that iLife apps, like iPhoto and Garage Band, can be purchased individually for $15 and can be used on all types of computers.  From the website found here you can check out the new apps that are being designed currently.  The new app store by mac has hopes of increasing apple's sales as well as providing and easier way for customers to get specially designed apps on their computers.  Although the apps are supposadely worth $55, the designers say that they have no plans of incresing prices from the current $15 price that they're at right now

College Inflation

From the website found on this link you'll see that The National Inflation Association believes that the United States has a college education bubble that is set to burst beginning in mid-2011. This bursting bubble will have effects that are even more far-reaching than the bursting of the Real Estate bubble in 2006. College education could supposadely become the largest scam in U.S. history.  NIA’s advice to the youth of America is to start saving and thinking for themselves.  This is in hopes of less teenagers being sucked into the overpaying as a result of college loans.  Annual tuition for a private four-year college in America is now $27,293, up 29% from five years ago. And with the unemployment rate decreasing things aren't looking too good for college students in the future.

Shooting in Arizona

There was ashooting at a grocery store in Arizona on January 8th.  From the website found here  The suspect was named as 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner from Tuscon, Arizona. He was arrested after shooting nearly 20 people at the Safeway grocery store, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and U.S. District Court Judge John Roll.  Officers believe that the shooting was a planned act of terrorism by the young suspect, believing that his primary targets were Congresswoman Giffords and Judge Roll.  When Loughner heard accusations of being called a terrorist he said ".I define terrorist..a terrorist is a person who employs terror or terrorism, especially as a political weapon." Others believe that he's merely a student who has some psychological issues.

The U.S. Unemployment Rate

From the website found here, you'll see that the national unemployment rate wrapped up 2010 by significantly dropping to 9.4 percent in December, despite that job gains fell short of expectations.  At 9.4 percent, down from 9.8 in November, December’s unemployment rate was the lowest since 9.4 in May 2009. The unemployment rate was significantly below its recessionary peak of 10.1 percent in October 2009 and way better than its record high of 10.8 since 1948, set by the 1980s recession. However, it’s been stuck above 9 percent for 20 months in a row, a new post-World War II record.  Keep in mind that the current U.S. unemployment rate does not include workers who are involuntarily working only part time and with fewer benefits

Metrodome Collapses

On Satuday the Metrodome in the heart of dowtown Minneapolis, MN, actually collapsed.  On that sautrday, all over Minnesota they recieved almost a foot and a half of snow.  Newscasters were calling it the worst snow strom since Halloween of 1991.  Luckily there were no casualties in the storm, except for the game that was scheduled that Sunday againts the Giants.  The Vikings next home game was played next Monday at TCF Bank stadium (outdoor), where the Minnesota Gophers play.  This wasn't the first time that the roof collapsed, it also happened in 1983 and only took 4 days to fix.
